Quid pro quo? Or no go?

I have noticed that bloggers often adopt a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" or "I'll scratch your back, and expect you to scratch mine" policy when it comes to linking to other blogs. How about you? I'm thinking, link to me only if you like my blog, and I'll link to you only if I like your blog.

Or, if I link to a blog I don't particularly like or agree with, should I put a header like "Opposing Viewpoint"? I do know I will not link to a blog that is patently offensive. Anyway, let me know how you handle this. God bless.

Yep - I agree with you totally on that...
Honestly I only link blogs I really like to read and visit at least once a week...I have seen some blogs that have me linked for one reason or another, but I don't have them linked (various reason - not to be snob :)). I also like to check with people before I link them to my blog(s), because some might not want to be 'seen' on a Christian blog (if you know what I mean)...

Yep I only link to a site that I visit often, and enjoy!

Whew! Glad to hear that at least some people agree with me. And Eph, I hadn't thought about some people not wanting to be linked from a Christian blog. I'll have to take that into consideration.

BTW Jeff - I wrote & posted my weekly pick of the week on My Lighter Side. I just wanted you to know that I called you "One of my fellow Christian Blogging Buddies" - hope you don't mind that term.

I only link to blogs that I will actually visit. Makes now sense to link to them, if you're not going to read them. Have a good day. :)

Hi Jeff, I normally link to blogs that are interesting, intelligent and friendly. I don't link to sites containing profanities and extreme views. When I link to other blogs, I do not expect and do not ask for a reciprocal link. I treat the links as my personal bookmark, which I add or delete at my own pleasure...there is no commitment and there is no obligation.

Ah - well said Stephen...like the idea of treating my links as a bookmark - no commitment on either side...

Eph, "blogging buddy" is perfectly fine with me.

Anna, agreed. There are so many out there, and so little time, that I feel a need to focus on what matters most (as Steven Covey would say).

Stephen, good point about bookmarks. I hadn't considered that angle. And I hope that while I'm committed to Christ, that my firmness does not come across as unfriendly.
